About Us
My name is Brendan and I am the owner, founder and Head Trainer here at Tail Blazers Dog Training.
I've been passionate about the health and welfare of dogs (and all animals) since I was a young boy. Growing up we had our beautiful Old English Sheepdog, Sasha, then our dopey but sweet Boxer x Labrador Bindi as well as cats, birds and guinea pigs.
My first dog was a Staffy cross named Amber who lived an incredibly long life passing at the ripe old age of 15. My fur family now consists of my Australian Shepherd named Arlo, Golden Retriever Indie, English Springer Spaniel Aubrey and my two beautiful rescue cats Inca and Aurora.
The dog training world really found me and piqued my interest when Arlo, at around 6 months of age became severely reactive to other dogs when out on lead. He would cry, howl, bark, lunge, jump in circles and almost (screech?) at the site of another dog. I thought he was possessed and really couldn't understand the emotional and psychological reasons for his behaviour. Nothing I did would settle him so I knew I needed a professional. So, I called in a trainer, started my reactivity training (amongst other things), hit the books, started taking courses & have never looked back.
Five years on and I still have a vested and keen interest in training dogs that are hyperactive, reactive, nervous and anxious. Having been on this ride before, I’m all too familiar with the emotional rollercoaster you’ve got to be buckled in for. I also know that with a solid training plan, patience, consistency and a whole lotta love, there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Tail Blazers Dog Training use rewards-based training techniques to motivate your dog, build and solidify trust, responsiveness and respect.
We take a holistic approach to each and every behavioural modification case we take on; conducting a deep dive into your dog, their history, routines, behaviours, home life, engagement, exercise, enrichment & boundaries. We then work to help you better understand them and their biological requirements. We show you the 'how to', demonstrating any and every component of the individualised training plan we develop to alter any of those undesired behaviours.
We don't rest on our laurels. We continue to upskill through regular attendance at dog training seminars, courses and through the attainment of formal / recognised qualifications. We do this, so you don't have to. You don't need to trawl Google, YouTube, Facebook and Tiktok for 'training tips'.
